This is a printed illustration of galley Head Lighthouse in County Cork, Ireland, one of the 12 Great Irish Lighthouses in breathtaking locations around the Irish Coast.
Galley Head Lighthouse rises an imposing 53m above the roaring Atlantic ocean in the popular tourist haven of West Cork.
The lighthouses illustrated in this set are located along The Wild Atlantic Way and Ireland’s Ancient East. The lighthouse displays an unusual landward arc of light because, it is said, the Sultan of Turkey asked to be able to see it from Castle Freke at Rosscarbery nearby on his visit there.
Providing beacons of security to sea-farers over the centuries these weatherproof icons are a treasured part of Ireland’s history.
If you can’t manage a visit that you can come close with this lovely print, bringing a bit of their rugged romance into your home or office with an illustrated print.
