"Trust" - If this could speak to whoever it ends up with, I'd like for it to say "You got this!!".
Abstract Encaustic on cradled panel. Deep magenta, ultramarine and indigos form the basis for this piece, which focuses on a blending of texture and colour and "trust" was the word that kept coming to be as I created her.
Finished with metallic alcohol ink to highlight the amazingly tactile centre, it's a bold but muted little statement piece! For me, it speaks to inner strength, subtle self-awareness and is a reminder to trust ourselves.
Encaustic painting is an ancient technique whereby beeswax and damar resin are melted together, combined with pigments, then layered and fused together with heat to get gorgeous, 3 dimensional, textured works of art. I LOVE it!! Opposing edges on this piece are completely smooth, with a highly textured and tactile centre that you can reach in and touch!
